Winter fun in Pertisau
We know, when you think of Lake Achensee, the first thing your mind conjures up are pictures of summer.
But what if we told you that the region around Pertisau is a hot tip for active holiday-makers in winter, too?
It’s the perfect place for cross-country skiing, winter hiking, ice-skating, and more.
Cross-country skiing paradise at Lake Achensee
As we’re sure you’ve already guessed, our number one winter sport is cross-country skiing. The Lake Achensee region is one of the best-known cross-country skiing centres in Tyrol! Why? Well, the slightly hilly landscape is perfectly suited to creating wide trails with several tracks and plenty of space for skating. The extensive network of cross-country skiing trails is excellently signposted and offers countless excursion options. The trail also runs directly through Pertisau, so you can easily access it directly from our Langlaufstüberl. Are you new to cross-country skiing? No problem: You can make your first attempts on skis on the practice trail in Pertisau or book a teacher at one of the seven cross-country skiing schools in the region. The highlight for dog owners: A dog trail has also been created at Lake Achensee where your dog can happily accompany you.
Explore the winter landscape on foot
The Lake Achensee region is a unique hiking paradise in winter as well as summer. The fresh snow crunches under your shoes, your breath fogs the air, and the Karwendel or Rofan mountain range towers above you. Especially in Karwendel Nature Park, which is home to ibexes and chamois, a winter or snowshoe hike is an unforgettable experience. Over 150 kilometres of well-marked winter hiking trails lead you through the fascinating landscape.
Skiing bliss in Pertisau
Of course, skiers also find everything their hearts desire at Lake Achensee. The Karwendel cable car transports you from Pertisau up Zwölferkopf. Here, families and beginners can look forward to excellent slope conditions for trying their hand at skiing, and experienced skiers can also get their carve on – all while enjoying a spectacular view of Lake Achensee! If you’d prefer to race down to the valley on two runners, you should check out the 4.8-kilometre-long toboggan run on Zwölferkopf – squeals of delight are guaranteed!
